PwnCNC's ATC Components

When you receive your ATC System, the first thing you'll want to do is to inventory all the parts.

Note:  If you've purchased the upgrade and the item is not included in your ATC System Upgrade shipment... you'll be reusing that component from your current PwnCNC Spindle System.

1. ATC Motor

  • ATC Motor with 4-sealed ceramic angular bearings and 4-poles
    • 1.5kw w/ISO20-ER20, 110v, 80mm diameter round body, 0-24000rpms
    • 2.2kw w/ISO20-ER20, 220v, 80mm diameter round body, 0-24000rpms

2. VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)

  • Pre-wired and Pre-programmed VFD with our latest v5 Enclosure design.
    • Detachable keypad with dial speedometer (extendable via cat5 cable and keypad mount, not included)
    • US Power Cord (either 110v 5-15P or 220v L6-20P)
    • includes "Quiet mode" (which means the VFD's fan turns on only when needed)
    • PWM and Modbus automatic control capabilities (controlled through g-code programming)
    • 20mo manufacturer's warranty on VFD

3. PE (Pneumatics Enclosure)

  • Expertly engineered Pneumatics Enclosure
    • 3 regulators are housed within this enclosure. 2 are for the tool changing operation with a third available for a "future improvement".
    • US Power Cord 110v 5-15P is included.

4. Spindle Cable

  • 20' Hand Crafted Plug-n-Play properly grounded Spindle Cable included.  If you'd like longer cables, checkout our Extension Cables. Sensor cable extensions available here.

5. Motor Sensor Cable

  • 5 Meter Motor Sensor Cable. This goes between the Motor and the Pneumatics Enclosure for sensor feedback and command execution at the spindle.

6. ATC Control Cable

  • This wire is used to connect the PE with your CNC Controller.  Not every CNC Controller is ATC-capable, if it is this cable is required.

7. ATC Control Inlet (Optional, but included)

8. MTC Button/Cable

  • If you wish to manually control your tool-changing operation, this button is where all the magic happens.
  • Use of this button on a 6 meter wire is optional if you only wish to perform automatic tool changes via your CNC's controller (if it's ATC capable).

9. Safety/RUN Cable 2-meters

  • If you do not plan to use the MTC, there is no need to use this wire. However, if you plan to use the MTC Button, this safety wire is required to be run between the VFD and PE.

10. Tube-Side Kool Connectors

  • Our ATC motors come standard with our custom designed Kool Connectors, these are female tube-side connectors you'll add onto your cooling system tubes for the perfect no-leak connections.
    • The motor side (male) connectors come preinstalled on the ATC Spindle Motor.

11. 4pc ISO20 Tool Holders

  • (4) Tool Holders are included, however you can purchase more... your only limitation is where/how many you can physically place it on your CNC bed.

12Collets

  • (4) ER20 Collets, (1) 1/8", (2) 1/4", and (1) 1/2" are included, and each tool holder will need a collet.
    • Additional Collets can be found here

13. Tool-Holder Racks (screws required but not included)

  • Each Tool Holder will need a Rack for when not in use.
  • There are countless number of tool rack options and we are designing more.
    • If you have an idea you'd like to try, we're happy to assist with development.

14. ISO20 Wrenches

  • One wrench is used to hold the tool-holder while the other is for turning the nut.

15. 8mm Air Inlet Tubing 3-meters w/quick connector

  • Pneumatic Quick connector.  Be sure you're using an air-dryer to protect the various pneumatic components.  Although overkill, this drying system is what we use on our production ATC-equipped CNC Machine.
  • Air Compressor not included but required.

16. (2) 6mm Air tubing 6-meters each.   Including Y connector.

* Two 6mm tubes run between the ATC Motor and PE.  At the motor, one of these tubes split into two since the motor has 3 air inlet connections.  One for tool changes, while the other two are for dust clearing.

17. VFD/PE Wall Mounting Parts (screws required but not included)

  • VFD/PE mounts with a french-cleat style plastic part that's included with your kit.
  • Additional mounting options are available here.

18. IoT Plug (2-conductor wire and IoT Power Strip optional and sold separately)

  • Adding an IoT Power Strip will let you automatically turn on/off your cooling system and even extraction system.

Add-on's not otherwise included

1.  12' Hand Crafted Plug-n-Play Control Cable

  • Used to have automatic control of your spindle via your controller

2. Spindle Cable H20 Extension 2-meters (Optional)

  • If 6m isn't long enough, this cable goes between the motor and your existing Spindle Cable

2. Motor Sensor Extension Cable 2-meters (Optional)

  • Much like the Spindle Cable, this goes between the motor and your exisiting sensor cable.

3. Cooling System (Required, but sold separately)

  • We offer two different types of cooling systems.
    • The one pictured is our most basic which is a submersible pond pump and tubing.  More advanced option includes a CW-3000 Chiller.
    • Coolant Liquid. See our article on Coolant here: Water Cooled Spindle Cooling Options
    • Reservoir bucket which will be filled with coolant and the included pump will be submerged into. (a 4gal bucket is the perfect size.)

From Other Retailers (REQUIRED) (What we use)

1. Air Compressor

  • Air Compressor capable of supplying 95psi of dry air pressure is required but not included

2. Pneumatic Dryer

  • Pneumatic Air Dryer and you can expect to spend $100+ on one at Amazon.

More information can be found here: Air Compressor / dryer
