The touch probe will allow you to set your working coordinates to 0, be it your X, Y, XY, or Z

At the top of your screen is the word "Probe". This is seen on any screen, and is normally teal colored, but changes to Green when activated.
1. Inside / Outside Selection.
- If the dots are on the inside of the onscreen probe block, press this button, and hit save.
2. Probe Diameter
- This is the diameter of your probing tool (bit) and we recommend you only probe with a single sized diameter endmill such as 1/4" so that you don't have to adjust it for the bit installed. Failing to do so will result in inaccurate results. Red is if you were programmed for a 1/4" and used a 1/2" endmill. Black is if you were programmed for an 1/4" and used an 1/8" bit, and the variation would be the difference in the radius between the bits.
3. Probing Feed rate
- This can be as fast or slow as you'd like. Recommend the latter, and 10ipm is a good starting point.
4. X Y Z Offset
- The awesome thing about Masso is you can place your probe block on any corner, instead of being forced to stick with the lower left (most common), and adjust the movement logic on the fly. There is no wrong answer, but you'll need to decide how you want to probe at this point, whether it is over the workpiece towards the corner, or over empty space towards the workpiece
- These are the offsets of the probe. Since the probe block is not where the edge is, you'll need to tell Masso how far way it is from the corner/edge, and this is how you would set that offset. See attached documents, but due to the manufacturing process, your probe may have slight variations. Suggest confirming your probe blocks measurement with a caliper if that level of precision is important to you.
5. Save Settings
- A message will appear at the bottom instead of a statement of your current unit of measure asking you to save your settings when making adjustments.
6. Work Offsets
- G54, G55, G56, G57, G58, G59 are work offsets (Pre-saved machine locations where multiple work offsets can be saved). The G54, G55, G56, G57, G58 and G59 can be declared on the F4 Screen.
7. X Y Z Position
- An advanced functionality that will likely go unused, recommend leaving them at 0.
- The Probing XYZ Offset is for the offset created by the physical dimensions of your block. However, if you wanted to probe the corner but actually have XY 0 be the center of your work piece, these would be the values you would manipulate to create that second offset.
8. Inside Probe
- If you position the bit in the hole, you'll be able to find the XY Orgin by it probing for the inside edges of the circle. Center Probing cycles
The numbers surrounding the probe in Masso represent the distance it will travel before adjusting the axis. If you probed too far away and it starts to head for the probe, as long as the wire is still connected, it'll error out since it wasn't looking for the continuity signal.
The machine will travel according to the above pictured arrows depending on which segment you chose to probe with. It will head towards the probe block, and rapid away if only doing one axis. If doing X & Y, after making contact, it will rapid away and progress towards the next axis in a clockwise direction. Then pull up parallel to it and move in looking for continuity and rapid away.
Corner Probing Cycles / Side of Part Probe Cycles
Each probe block is divided into 9 squares, for simplicity, I have numbered them below. As it was said before the awesome thing about Masso is that it can probe on any corner or side which is not like most other controllers. Because of this Masso allows you to probe starting over the work piece and probing to the corner/edge or starting off the edge of the workpiece and going towards it.
If your probe block is on the lower left or back right, you will use either #3 or #7 to probe. If going on the lower right or back left, you'll want to use #1 or #9.
#2, #4, #6, #8 would only be used if you only want the X or Y axis.
#5 would be used for getting your Z Zero and your bit must be over the probe block with the magnet attached, and it will go straight down until continuity is achieved. Top of Part Probing Cycle
