🔌 110V Power Requirements for Your PwnCNC Spindle System
Yes, you can use your PwnCNC 110V spindle system on a standard 15A 110V circuit—but it must be a dedicated circuit, used exclusively for your spindle and VFD.
Why a Dedicated Circuit?
Our 1.5kW spindle motors draw approximately 12A, which is 80% of the total capacity on a 15A circuit.
According to the National Electrical Code (NEC), 80% is the maximum allowable for a motor load on a continuous-use circuit.
⚠️ Important:
Local electrical codes may be more restrictive (e.g., allowing only 60% usage), but they can’t be more lenient. Always double-check with your local code authority.
Installing a New Circuit?
If you're having an electrician install a new outlet for your spindle setup, ask them to use the following:
-
Outlet Type: NEMA 5-20R (20A, 110V)
-
Wiring: Use 12-gauge wire or larger for safe operation
What’s Included
Your spindle system includes a 6-foot power cable:
NEMA 5-15P (standard 110V plug) → IEC 60320 C13 (VFD side)
This setup works great for most installations, as long as it’s connected to a properly dedicated circuit.
