When we describe our VFDs as pre-programmed, we want to be very clear about what that means—and what it does not mean—so customers know exactly what to expect.
What We Do Pre-Program
Every VFD we ship is:
-
Programmed with safe, correct base parameters for the spindle motor you purchased
-
Configured to operate properly with that spindle’s voltage, frequency, acceleration, and protection settings
-
Tested with the actual motor before shipment to confirm normal operation
This ensures that the VFD and spindle are matched correctly and that the system is in a known, working state when it leaves our shop.
What Pre-Programmed Does Not Mean
“Pre-programmed” does not mean:
-
Plug-and-play compatibility with every CNC controller, firmware, or software combination
-
That no additional configuration will ever be required
-
That the VFD will automatically work with unsupported or third-party controllers
CNC controllers vary widely in how they output spindle control signals (0–5V vs 0–10V, PWM vs analog, relay logic, firmware behavior, etc.). Because of this, final integration settings are controller-dependent.
Controller-Specific Configuration
If you are using a controller we explicitly support and document, the VFD settings are typically very close to plug-and-play.
If you are using a third-party or less common controller, additional steps may be required, such as:
-
Adjusting the analog voltage range
-
Configuring PWM scaling
-
Setting relay logic for spindle enable/disable
-
Verifying controller firmware behavior
These steps are outside the VFD’s base programming and depend on the controller manufacturer’s design choices.
Why We Don’t Program for Every Controller
There are hundreds of CNC controllers, firmware versions, and custom configurations in use. Many are discontinued, modified, or poorly documented.
While we do our best to:
-
Test common controllers
-
Publish documentation
-
Help guide customers where possible
…it is not feasible to pre-program or fully support every controller and software combination.
For controller-specific behavior, the controller manufacturer is always the best source of authoritative support.
Our Commitment
What we do commit to:
-
Shipping properly programmed and tested VFDs
-
Providing accurate documentation
-
Being transparent about support boundaries
-
Offering returns if a system is not a good fit
Our goal is to help customers succeed—not to overpromise compatibility that depends on hardware we don’t control.
If You’re Unsure
If you’re not sure whether your controller is a good match, we recommend:
-
Reviewing our documentation before purchase
-
Contacting us with your controller details
-
Confirming controller voltage and spindle control method
We’re always happy to help you determine the best path forward.
