How to Export Your MASSO Controller Settings to a USB Drive

Your MASSO controller can save a backup of its machine configuration to a USB flash drive. This backup can be useful for troubleshooting, restoring your machine, or helping other owners configure a similar CNC conversion.

Saving a backup does not change or erase your current settings. It only copies them to the USB drive.

What You Will Need

You will need a USB flash drive that meets the following requirements:

Formatted as FAT32
Uses an MBR partition
Preferably 32 GB or smaller
A recognized name-brand USB drive is recommended

If you already use a USB drive successfully with your MASSO controller, you can use that drive.

Exporting Your MASSO Settings

Insert the USB flash drive into your MASSO controller.
From the main MASSO screen, open the F1 Setup screen.
Open the Save and Load Calibration Settings window.
Select Save to file.
Wait for MASSO to finish saving the files before removing the USB drive.

Important: Be sure to select Save to file. Do not select Load from file, because that option is used to replace the controller’s current configuration with settings already stored on the USB drive.

MASSO will save the following files:

MASSO_Settings.htg — contains the machine’s calibration and configuration settings
MASSO_Tools.htg — contains the controller’s tool table

Please send us both files when possible. The MASSO_Settings.htg file is the most important, but the tool-table file can also help us understand the complete configuration.

Finding the Files on Your Computer

After the save process is complete, remove the USB drive from the MASSO controller.
Insert the USB drive into your computer.
Open the USB drive using File Explorer on Windows or Finder on macOS.
Open the MASSO folder.
Open the Machine Settings folder.
Locate these two files:

MASSO_Settings.htg
MASSO_Tools.htg

Attaching the Files to Your Email

Reply to the email you received from PwnCNC and include the following information:

CNC manufacturer or brand
Exact CNC model
Machine cutting size or overall size
MASSO model, such as MASSO G3 Touch, G3 Touch Advanced, or MASSO Core
PwnCNC Conversion Kit used
Any notable accessories, such as an ATC spindle, tool setter, touch probe, rotary axis, or custom homing sensors

Attach both .htg files to your reply and send the email.

If your email provider will not allow .htg attachments, place both files into a ZIP file and attach the ZIP file instead.

A suggested ZIP filename is:

Brand-Model-Size-MASSO-Backup.zip

For example:

Onefinity-Woodworker-X50-32x48-MASSO-Backup.zip

Please do not open or edit the .htg files before sending them.

Privacy Information

MASSO does not include your Wi-Fi network security key in the exported settings backup. The Wi-Fi password field is intentionally left blank when settings are saved.

Known configuration requirements

These resources may help future conversion owners begin with a proven reference configuration for a similar machine.

Any shared configuration should still be reviewed carefully before being loaded onto another CNC. Motor calibration, travel limits, homing direction, inputs, outputs, spindle control, and other settings can vary even between machines of the same model.
